Currently, this “codex” only completely covers the Monster Manual, the Monster Manual II, and the Fiend Folio (with all creatures in the latter two sources updated to D&D version 3.5 standards); entries from other sources “creep in” as time permits. If an entry is part of another monster entry with a different name, that is given in parentheses after the entry. If it is a creature with a template applied, that template is a parentheses after the entry and hyperlinked to the template.
See About Creature Statistics for how to interpret each creature’s description, or click on row headings in the leftmost column in any creature’s statistics block.
Creatures marked by a T superscript are actually creature templates, which are applied to other creatures.
In this codex, the ⬆️ icon returns to the light cyan index line of letters below.
In a creature’s description heading, the ⬆️ icon is a hyperlink back to its statistics block. Likewise, a ⬇️ icon in a statistics block is a hyperlink to a creature’s description. These are mainly used where creatures may share a statistics block but not descriptions.
A ♊ button should be found at the end of every Advancement entry in every creature’s statistics block. This will export that specific creature’s statistics block into a Split View panel that one can then copy and paste to a variety of places in Roll20 or elsewhere and edit. In Roll20, you can paste this in a creature token’s GM Notes tab, a character sheet biography tab, or even a Roll20 Forum message. You can even edit it directly at HTML5-Editor.net—then paste that wherever you like.
(It is hoped that the ability to export specific creature statistics blocks will aid in creating advanced versions of these creatures—at least until the Monster Laboratory (the full M-Lab) is integrated into A35. At that point, the ♊ will load the creature statistics into that…allowing one to…experiment. 😈)
